Healthy Androscoggin & Hannaford Cause Bag Program
Healthy Androscoggin has been selected to be a part of the exciting and innovative Hannaford Cause Bag program, which is specially designed to support local nonprofits like us.
For every Hannaford Helps reusable bag purchased at the Hannaford located at Sabattus Street in Lewiston during the month of August, $1 is donated to our cause in order to help us fulfill our mission.
Please visit the Hannaford store located at Sabattus St., Lewiston during the month of August and buy the specially designed Blue Bag with the Good Karma message.
We continually appreciate all the support you give, which has allowed Healthy Androscoggin to maintain the work we do in our community. The Hannaford Cause Bag program is a simple and fun way to continue this support!
Healthy Androscoggin seeks a community environment supportive of healthy lifestyles by promoting five main goals:
- Support tobacco free lifestyles
- Prevent youth substance use
- Encourage physical activity
- Promote healthy eating
- Prevent childhood lead poisoning
Healthy Androscoggin is funded in part by the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Department of Health and Human Services; the Maine Office of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services; U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration; and other local grants and donations.
History of the Organization:
Healthy Androscoggin was created in 1995 as Tobacco Free L-A, a grassroots group of community members and organizations working to reduce tobacco use in the greater Lewiston-Auburn area.
Since then, we have grown to include nearly 300 coalition members and over 2300 subscribers and have broadened our focus to include exercising, eating well, youth substance use, and childhood lead poisoning prevention.
We are proud that our initiatives have influenced more than 1500 people to quit smoking and even more to make healthy lifestyle changes, begin exercising and eating nutritiously.
