Community and State Partners, I am both sad and excited to share with you that I am stepping down as Director of Healthy Androscoggin to apply to medical school. I am excited by this opportunity to pursue medicine within the context of public and community health experience. I will be spending the next year in a the American and New England Studies Program at USM writing and painting–a bit of a sabaticcal before medical school and residency! My last day as fulltime Director at Healthy Androscoggin is July 2nd. Erin Guay will be acting as Interim Director until a new Executive Director is recruited. Healthy Androscoggin’s Board of Directors is looking for a competitive candidate preferrably with experiences in non-profit management, public health, grant writing, fundraising, project management, and community mobilizing. Job Summary: The general function and responsibility of this full-time professional position is to direct and manage programmatic and administrative functions for Healthy Androscoggin, a Healthy Maine Partnership, under the auspices of Central Maine Community Health. Primary administrative functions include fundraising and development activities, strategic planning, and board development. The Executive Director oversees and manages the provision of new and expanded comprehensive community based health efforts, funded through various local, state, and federal sources. These services will seek to improve the health of Androscoggin County citizens through a comprehensive community-based approach. The Executive Director is directly supervised by the Healthy Androscoggin Board of Directors. Requirements: Master’s degree in public health, administration, and/or a related field preferred. Minimum of 7 years’ experience required in non-profit management, prevention planning, staff supervision, project management, interagency collaborative programming, budgeting and financial stewardship, media and provider relations, networking, public outreach, and/or community organizing. Exceptional technical writing and communications skills, ability to work with diverse groups and solid knowledge of data collection and programmatic evaluation preferred. I also have another exciting announcement: Sarah Mayberry, our Tobacco Coordinator, has just accepted a position with the Breathe Easy Coalition of Maine as their new Program Coordinator–she will still be working on Tobacco Policy Initiatives but now at the State Level. We are excited to support Sarah in her new position. Sarah’s last day with Healthy Androsccogin will be June 25th. The Health Promotion Coordinator/Tobacco Coordinator position will be posted soon.
