Quitting smoking is one of the toughest but most important things you
can do to improve your health now and for years to come. Here are some
resources and helpful tools to get you started or keep you going.
- Healthy
Androscoggin organizes a weekly Tobacco Support Group that is free and
open to anyone who has a desire to quit smoking and/or using tobacco.
The Tobacco Support Group (formerly called the Nicotine Anonymous
Support Group) is open to the public and runs on a drop-in basis (come
anytime, no sign-up required!). To find out about local Tobacco Support
groups being offered currently, please call Healthy Androscoggin at

- Healthy
Androscoggin has a tobacco cessation resource guide that has all
cessation options in Androscoggin County (from classes to hypnosis).
Send an email to info@healthyandroscoggin.org to order one or more
copies of this guide.
- Call the Maine Tobacco Helpline at
1-800-207-1230. This is a free service the offers professional
counseling right over the phone!
- The Lung Association has an
on-line program called “Freedom from smoking” that can help people quit

- American Cancer Society has an
on-line program that offers help to people who want to quit using
tobacco:
