• Healthy Androscoggin Work Healthy Award
  The Healthy Androscoggin Workplace Award recognizes businesses and organizations in Androscoggin County that have placed a high priority on promoting good health for their employees. By supporting tobacco-free lifestyles, encouraging physical activity or promoting healthy eating, businesses and organizations realize the benefits of a healthier workforce including:
  • Reduced absenteeism
  • Reduced disability costs
  • Reduced health care costs
  • Improved productivity
  • Money saved
• Examples of what you could do to qualify for an award include:
  • Subsidize your employee’s gym membership
  • Organize a corporate team to participate in a charity walk
  • Offer a brown bag forum on healthy eating
  • Pay part of the fee for your employee to attend Weight Watchers
  • Serve healthy food when hosting meetings
  • Reduce the health benefits cost for employees who do not smoke
  • Offer flextime for all employees to exercise
  • Role model healthy behaviors (use the stairs, park further away…)
  • Communicate the company’s smoking policy
  • Promote healthy habits – raise awareness through displays,posters,table tents,paycheck stuffers …
  • Form a Wellness Committee
  • Promote the wellness benefits offered through your health insurance

• The Work Healthy Award provides businesses and organizations with the opportunity to be recognized as a community leader in promoting good health.
• Categories:
• Apply within one or several of the following categories:
  • Work Tobacco Free
  • Encourage Physical Activity
  • Promote Healthy Eating
  • Bonus Category
    
• Recognition Level:
• Specify the level of recognition for which you are applying:
  • Merit Award
  • Quality Award
  • Excellence Award

• Special Distinction Award:
• Businesses and organizations that have earned recognition across all three categories will be honored by Healthy Androscoggin with a special distinction award.
  • Bronze: Merit level
  • Silver: Quality level
  • Gold: Excellence level
• Application Deadline:
• March 1, 2008 for the 2008 April Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce Breakfast event. Applications received after this date may be awarded the following year.
